Pig Penning is a site about the politics of agriculture and development.

I’m an academic researcher who lived and worked in China for three years, and now returns for shorter stints of fieldwork. I write mostly about global and local implications of the industrialization of pig farming in China, but also work on food security politics, environmental justice issues, and policies related to China’s agricultural development model.

This site is a personal endeavor, related to, but distinct from my academic work. You can find some of my research papers here.
